The issue: The founders of the company (IT literate entrepreneurs) did not have the strategy and management competencies they required in order to develop their Research and Development project into real business. Out of the bright technology they invented, what could have been the services the customers really would like? How much would they pay for that? Who will the real customers be?

What we did: Pioneers worked very closely during more than two years with the Information Technology venture team. We took in charge the role of CEO, CFO and marketing/sales support. We provided strategy and management expertise particularly in the fields of the definition of e-services, product offerings, market assessment, strategic positioning, business case design, business plan formulation, pricing strategy and international sales support. We presented the project to R&D partners, economic partners, venture capitalists and convinced them. We managed negotiations and capital rising formal procedure. We also visited prospects in Europe, Middle East, South America to get their high interest through services demos and presentations.

The results: Our customer was able to develop its venture from an R&D project to an early stage company. They got the business expertise required in the information technology venture as early as in the product development phase. In particular, the design of the business processes that enabled the development of a Request for Proposal (RFP) electronic platform. The company got a very motivated team of 15 professionals. Over than CHF 4 millions were invested in that project. The company also got marketing material, contracts and general conditions definition as well as highly interested international prospects (governments, cities and private companies such as airports).
