IT Research Policy

The issue: The Swiss National Science Foundation, the federal government’s arm in promoting research, had identified Business to Business electronic commerce as a priority research subject. The Foundation wanted to define a clear policy that would enable it to secure an Internationally competitive position in the domain.

What we did: Pioneers studied the competitive environment and identified what other industrialized countries were doing and where private investments were being directed. Our consultants found key areas of opportunity for the Foundation, established the strategic positioning, formulated and recommended the adequate policy and censed projects that could be funded.

The results: The Swiss National Science Foundation has been able to direct its financial grants to those projects which reinforced national competitiveness in the domain. Several of these Research & Development projects were transformed into companies or were used by the related industries.
